Pill Bugs
When you move a rock or object in your backyard, you may see pill bugs underneath. We grew up calling these “roly-polys.” These little, gray creatures with hard shells roll up into a ball if you pick them up. Pill bugs serve a purpose outdoors, but when they get inside your home, they are nuisance pests. The problem is that they multiply in mass numbers that get out of control, eating your furniture, floor coverings and food supplies. Bug Ivey can stop the infestation and help you reclaim your space.
About Pill Bugs
Pill bugs are isopods, not insects. These small-moving crustaceans are distant cousins of lobsters and crabs. They are about ½-inch in length with three body parts and seven pairs of legs. They are commonly found in moist, dark locations outdoors, in the garden beds outside of buildings and in basements. These cold-blooded creatures crawl around at night, preferring to feed on landscaping around your home, mulch, and decaying plants and leaves. Pillbugs breed year-round. Carrying up to 200 eggs in a brood pouch, females can produce more than two broods per year. Their average lifespan is two to five years.
